Atofina launches tough transparent polypropylene

Atofina petrochemical company in France introduced Fiaplas, a new product of syndiotactic PP, which is characterized by better flexibility than traditional isotactic stand PP, and has good processability. It is very easy to form various containers. According to Scott McEwen, vice president of Polypropylene's business unit at the company, Finaplas customers have used PP raw materials blended with this new resin to make film replacement papers and other conventional films with different properties, and Finaplas is suitable for the preparation of complex shapes that are difficult for general PP to form. Containers, downstream processing plants, can design and produce special-shaped containers.
Finaplas also has excellent transparency and gloss, a melting point of 128°C, and low extractables. In addition, the shrinkage of this new resin processed film is greater than that of the conventional PP, and the prepared cast film and biaxially stretched film have high transparency. Other applications for Finaplas include medical cooking vessels, extruded foam products and durable consumer injection molded products.
