Creating a publication from scratch with PageMaker (1)

After starting PageMaker 6.5, create a new P65 file. Click the "File" menu, select "New" (shortcut Ctrl + N), then the "Document Settings" dialog box will pop up. Click on the drop-down arrow next to "Page Size". Here you can select the page size to create the document. We select "A4" and select the size of "A4" in the "Custom Size" below.

If the dimensions in the list do not meet the requirements, you can also select "Custom" and enter the desired size value in "Custom Size".

In the following, "printing method", "page number", "boundary", "text direction", "bookbinding method", "target printer resolution", "combined printer", and the like can also be set. Here we take the default value. After setting up, click the "OK" button, PageMaker will be based on our requirements to establish a prototype of the publication, we can start editing the work of the publication.

Below we have started to compile this publication step by step.

The first step: determine the title:

Select "T" (ie, the text tool) in the tool palette. Click on the top of the page. We see a cursor on the left edge of the page flashing, indicating that we can already enter the title. Enter the title "Opening up for learning OFFICE2000+WPS2000", click on the menu command "View" and select "Show full page (or actual size)" (shortcut Ctrl+1). At this time, the page becomes full page display. This has the advantage of Easy to observe, can clearly see the title in the page position.

Double-click on the title text to make the text appear highlighted (that is, select the text), click the button, switch the control panel to "row control panel", and select "Headline" in the "Packet" text box. Click the button below to center the heading. Since the headline was selected after the headline was selected, the default headline layout has been changed. Therefore, a "+" sign is added after the "headline" in the "row" text box.

If you need to change the title to bold text, click the button again and switch the control panel back to the "Text" control panel. Click to enlarge the title.

In the "Text" control panel, you can see the row that will be set to "Headline", font size is "24", and the font is "Taxi".

If you think that English and the number "OFFICE2000+WPS2000" adopts the default song style is not beautiful enough, you can select it as the English font "Times New Roman".

At this point, the headline is ready; how is it?
