Second, the printing plate
A plate is a printed text carrier used to transfer ink to a substrate.
The textual information on the manuscript is transmitted to the plate. The surface of the plate is divided into the inked graphic part and the non-inked blank part. During printing, the ink adhered to the graphic part is transferred to the substrate under the effect of pressure.
The printing plate is divided into letterpress, plate, gravure and stencil according to the relative position, height difference, or ink transfer method of the graphic part and the blank part. The materials used for plate making are metal and nonmetal.
(1) The blank part of the relief plate is concave, and the graphic part is convex and in the same plane or on the arc surface of the same radius, the level difference between the graphic part and the blank part is very different. Commonly used plates include: lead type, lead plate, zinc plate, and flexo plates and photosensitive plates.
(2) There is no obvious difference between the graphic part and the blank part on the lithographic printing plate, and it is almost on the same plane. Graphic part of the lipophilic hydrophobic, blank part of the hydrophilic oleophobic. Commonly used printing plates are PS-version, gravure, multi-layered metal plates and protein plates for plates, and lithographic plate-based plates with paper and polyester films.
(3) The intaglio printing plate is partially concave on the plate, and the blank part is convex and on the same plane or on the arc surface of the same radius. The layout of the plate is opposite to that of the relief plate. The depth of the depression in the layout graphic corresponds to the level of the original image. The darker the image, the greater the depth of the depression. Commonly used printing plates are: manual or mechanical engraving gravure, photogravure, electronic engraving gravure.
(4) The graphic part of the stencil plate is composed of holes that can print ink onto the substrate, while the blank part cannot pass ink. Commonly used printing plates include: writing plates, open plates, screen plates, etc.
