Waterborne varnish use characteristics

Waterborne glazing has many advantages over conventional glazing oils.

(1) Green and safe. Water-based glazing oil uses water as a solvent, and a small amount of ethanol as a co-solvent can reduce VOC emissions and is extremely environmentally friendly. In addition, the water-based varnish is non-toxic and harmless, does not cause any irritation to the human body, and is not flammable and explosive. It can be directly washed with water.

(2) The drying method is simple. The drying method of the aqueous glazing oil is mainly volatile drying and osmotic drying, and generally can be completed at normal temperature. In order to accelerate the drying speed of the aqueous glazing oil, an ordinary infrared drying device or a drying tunnel heating drying device can be employed.

(3) High transparency and good weather resistance. Even if it is irradiated under strong light for a long time, its film layer is not easily yellowed and can be stored for a long time.

(4) Strong abrasion resistance and scratch resistance. The water-based glazing oil contains a slip agent, which can reduce the adhesion between the printing products and improve the abrasion resistance and scratch resistance of the film layer to some extent.

(5) Improve the flatness and curl resistance of multi-color prints. Generally, in multi-color printing , after continuous printing and drying of paper through several color groups, the water content of the paper is reduced, and curling or even breaking is likely to occur. The use of water-based glazing oil for glazing can replenish the moisture of the paper to a certain extent, and the printed product can maintain good flatness and anti-rolling property after hot stamping and other processes.

Although water-based varnish has many advantages, it still has some shortcomings, for example, its gloss is not as good as UV varnish; due to the use of water as a solvent, it is highly corrosive to metals. If it is used for a long time or not cleaned in time, The glazing unit may be rusted.
