Introducing Intaglio Printing Fluidity

The fluidity of the solvent-based gravure printing ink is a comprehensive reflection of the relative density, viscosity, coagulation, and thixotropy of the ink. In order to obtain better fluidity, the continuous material should have proper viscosity, the pigment should have good wettability, and the pigment content should not be too high. The relationship between the liquid-solid interface should be well handled and the thixotropy of the ink should be minimized.

When detecting the fluidity of the ink, the ratio of the amount of ink remaining on the cup wall to the amount of ink flowing out is determined in addition to the time of the ink outflow measured by the coated cup 4 or the Zahn 3 cup. At a certain viscosity, the smaller the ratio, the better the fluidity of the ink, and vice versa. If the fluidity of the ink is not good, many printing failures may occur during printing on the machine.
