Seven-color printing and the latest network development

CTP technology, FM dots and Multi-Color printing are the elements that constitute high-precision printing performance, and all pre-press equipment manufacturers are constantly developing around these technologies.

In the seminar on "Seven-color printing and the development of the latest outlets", this seminar invited Mr. Marc De Mey from European Artwork Systems to introduce two of the latest technologies developed by their company-"Equinox seven-color separation system" and "Paragon, Organic, Concentric network technology", and was translated and explained in real time by Kenny Chan, Asia Pacific Market Business Manager.

New concept of multicolor printing

Equinox is a seven-color separation system. This software utilizes a unique color calculation program in conjunction with their process system to expand the printing color gamut. Why use seven colors? They believe that the color gamut generated by CMY in general four-color printing is too fine, so orange, green, and purple-blue are added to expand the color gamut. This system uses the working principle of the ICC Profile to combine the standard four-color test target ECI 2002 (including 1485 color patches) with the addition of three colors of orange, green and blue to form a total of four test targets with a total of 5940 color patch combinations.

There are two very good functions of this software, which is to consider the simplification of dot combination when multi-color emulation spot color, so that the printing is more stable. Another function is to add other three colors as required by the image. For example, when adding orange, you can control the portrait color part without adding orange; pure grass part adds green, purple flowers add purple blue, and sky blue does not add.

Equinox Expanded Gamut Separation System includes two sets of ArtPro plug-in (site license), Nexus or Odystar plug-in (site license) and PhotoShop plug-in. The initial price is 65,000 Euros.

Unusual outlet technology

Paragon, Organic, and Concentric are the three network technologies that are used in conjunction with Artwork Systems' Nexus and Odystar process systems. Paragon AM dot technology unique rosette-lockTM net pattern technology makes the visual smoother. In addition, Paragon AM also uses precision dot placement and frequency shifting technology to remove the red-yellow version of the 15-degree mesh angle hit the net. Paragon AM dot shapes include Round, Euclidean, Eillptical and Diamond.

Organic is the FM dot technology that adopts the second arrangement mode to make the vision smoother. Organic contains variable micro-dot size to make the image more detailed. Fixed dots can also be used to make printing more stable. Such a dot not only makes the image more detailed, but also improves the saturation. Organic outlets are available in 10, 20, 25 and 30 microns.

Concentric is a hybrid design of AM and FM network dot technology, and has the advantages of meticulous FM dot and smooth AM dot. People's vision will feel smooth on regularly arranged meshes, and even the best FM mesh design will produce a less smooth feeling on flat meshes or smooth flesh-colored parts. Therefore, the Concentric dots basically adopt the arrangement of the AM network, but the concentric circle method is used to change the composition of the dots more carefully.
