Preservative knowledge of wood preservative treatment

Antiseptic material treatment agent:

Chromium arsenate (CCA)

● Currently, CCA is the most widely used antiseptic in the United States, the full name of Chromated Copper Arsenate. Approved by AWPA, it can be used effectively in a variety of situations, ranging from seawater exposure to residential closures that require careful handling. The effectiveness of CCA in expelling Formosa termites is also significant.

Borate (B2 O3)

● Boron is B2O3, and the commonly used antiseptic treatment is Disodium Octoborate Tetrahydrate (DOT).

Note: 1. The American Standards Association (AWPA) recognized the commodity standard grade C-3 including the B2O3 (boron) preservative treatment level against the control of termite infestation (especially against Formosa termites) with a content of 0.17 pcf. AWPA approved, used to combat Formosa termites, with a boron content of 0.28 pcf, was approved by the National Inspection Report (NER) in September 2000.

2. The treatment of borate is not a fixed treatment, so AWPA recognizes that borate cannot be used in contact with the ground and must be kept away from water.

Zinc ammonia arsenate (ACZA)

● It was first used in western softwood (douglas fir, hem-firs, etc.)

Copper element BIS (ethane group) (CDDC)

● Approved but not currently used.

Alkyl copper ammonium compound (ACQ, Alkaline Copper Quaternary )

● The latest development of the model is D-Type, the trade name is Dura-Guard, arsenic-free, chrome-free

(As free, Cr free) does not cause acidification of the soil. It is a new type of environmentally friendly agent, but it is not recommended for use in seawater and sleepers.

CuAZ (set endurance E and set endurance CY)

● A new standard wood preservative similar to ACQ.
