One. The role of product packaging
A product may have a package. A toothpaste bag containing toothpaste often has a carton outside the carton. The carton is also covered with a cardboard box for transport and handling.
Packaging has four functions:
(1) This is the most important role. It refers to the protection of packaged goods against risk and damage, such as leakage, waste, theft, loss, scattering, doping, shrinkage and discoloration. The protection measures are very important during the period from production to use. If the packaging cannot protect the contents inside, the packaging is a failure.
(2) Provides convenience. Manufacturers, marketers and customers need to move products from one place to another. Toothpaste or nails can easily be moved in the warehouse. Inconvenient packaging of pickles and detergents is now available. Replaced by packaging; it is very convenient for consumers to purchase and take home.
(3) For the purpose of identification, the package must be marked with the product model, quantity, brand, and the name of the manufacturer or retailer. Packaging helps warehouse managers find products accurately and helps consumers find what they want.
(4) Promotion of sales of certain brands, especially in self-selected shops. In stores, packaging attracts the customer's attention and turns his attention into interest. Some people think, "Each box is a billboard." Good packaging can increase the attractiveness of new products. The value of packaging itself can also motivate consumers to purchase a product. In addition, increasing the attractiveness of packaging is less costly than increasing the unit price of a product.
Two. Packaging classification
There are many ways to classify packaging. Usually people are used to classify packaging into two categories: transport packaging and sales packaging. Professional classification has the following methods:
(1) Classification by packaging container shape: It can be divided into boxes, barrels, bags, bags, baskets, bundles, altars, cans, cylinders, and bottles.
(2) Classification by packaging materials: can be divided into wood products, paper products, metal products, glass, ceramic products and plastic products packaging.
(3) Classifying by packaged goods: It can be divided into food, medicine, light industry products, needle cotton fabrics, household appliances, mechanical and electrical products and fruit and vegetable packaging.
(4) Classification for safety purposes: It can be divided into general cargo packaging and dangerous goods packaging.
