The inspectors took these plastic bags and examined them carefully. They found that they were not food bags and could only hold garbage. In Xiaohe, a plastic product factory, the back of the factory building is full of recycled plastic waste, forming a spectacular “plastic hill”. The factory was filled with pungent stinky plastic smells, and the environment was dirty and disorderly. The business license indicated that the factory was a non-food plastic packaging bag and the site did not see a health permit. Workers are busy making plastic bags. Most of the raw materials are recycled plastic processed particles. The inspectors pointed out that the plastic bag can only be used as a garbage bag, but it cannot be guaranteed that it will not be used to hold food when it is circulated to the market.

At Huilin Degradable Plastics Company in Guizhou, the inspectors saw a production line with a good production environment and all of them using new materials to produce plastic bags. In the plastic bag containing food, the target of “food use” is awake, and the inspector confirms that it meets the standard after careful inspection. Inspectors believe that if plastic bag manufacturers can produce according to the standard, consumers can safely use plastic bags to package food.

The inspectors said that non-ferrous plastic bags were produced by the manufacturer using secondary plastics recovered from recycling. Due to the complex source of recycling, it is difficult to ensure that the residues on the recovered products are washed. When the recycled products are recycled, a large number of dark pigments are often added to cover them, and various additives are added to “intensify”, so these “recycled” plastic bags usually contain toxins.
